On Ramp

Here is an on ramp that is right off of Riverside drive near the LA Zoo. For a year or two every time I drove by this spot I wanted to paint it. I finally pulled the trigger with J- Mac and my tiny class about two weeks ago. It's a shame people think it cool to honk at you in encouragement when they drive by. It just startles you out of your concentration and pisses you off. Oh well, I'm an old crab, soon I'll be deaf enough not to care. Thumbs up! Everything is a Super bowl party, even painting!

Hey Bill, This is over by the LA river, right? I like the color choices you made on this one. Even the reds are bluish and cool. The forlorn car is a nice addition too.

Nice, painterly texture, subtle color, great composition, and very familiar ramp! Great job!

Bill, I've been checking out your blog for a while now but finally decided to post a comment. GREAT WORK ON EVERYTHING SO FAR! You've got such a versatile range of talent as a painter. I've never done much painting in my life (besides a few sloppy acrylics and watercolors) but you display fortitude and commitment to improve as an artist, even as amazingly talented as a guy you are now! This coming from a guy who also mostly draws silly cartoony stuff. But if you can do stuff as real and beautiful as this, it gives me inspiration. I hope to get more into painting soon. Thanks!

Ah Lesley... the great painter who won't paint. Thank you so much, and please post a new painting on your blog.

I think you have captured the quality of light very well. I'm enjoying seeing how you are so able to see these nice compositions in such seemingly overlooked places.
