Urban Art Show!

Towalwmie 2 8x10 oil on linen.

Practice Building, Fresno 6x8 oil on linen

Towalwmie 9x12 oil on linen. A Corvair parked behind a trailer near the house I was staying in in Towalwmie. Looked like it had not been moved be moved in 20 years. It was blue at one time, but bleached almost white from the sun.

Hidden9x12oil on linen-- behind and abandoned grain silo in Bakersfield.

Sheep Ranch Road 6x8 oil on linen

Sunset Train 8x10 oil on linen

Keep returning to this post I'm going to put up new paintings for the show almost every day on this same thread.
Yes I am going be in an urban group show at:
The Vault Gallery of Fine Art
42 South Washington Street Sonora,
California 95370
on September 1st thru 28th
with a reception on September 9th at 6 to 9 pm.
see link to gallery-------------------------->>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I will have 20 paintings in the show including this one.8x10 oil. 20 paintings is almost a solo show so if you like my work this would be the one to come to. I don't have another big show on the roster until October of 2007 and the prices are really reasonable. This is another view of the expressionest train.

Admittatedly, It is haul other to Sonora, but it is a great gallery (huge) it is literally an old bank with vault door still intact. The town itself is a cute tourist country town, so if you come out I would make a day or weekend of it. The Rattlesnake grille is not to be missed, lakes and Yosemite are fairly close with plenty of tourist stuff to do or creepy old hamlets to explore. I am amazed that I am in the same show as Ray Roberts. The show will be a mix of recent paintings I have posted and a bunch of new paintings of the area of Tuolumne County, Fresno and Bakersfield represented. If you drop me an E- mail I will send you both my and Ray Roberts show cards. Oh and here is another great Ray Roberts painting.

But what about the people who live too far away to see your urban art show?!?

I think it should tour the country (world?) to give everybody a chance to view it...

Really nice pieces.

Real 'moments in time' quality to them.

Haven't been browsing for weeks. Great to swing by and see new work. Best of luck with the show; new peices, like this train at dusk, are great additions to your body of work.

I don't know more than a few glances at this 'Ray Roberts' guy you seem so impressed by... but from my take, you've got no competition there. It's so refreshingly earthy to see plein air portraying something other than trees, hills and streams!

I really wish I could go to your show to see these paintings. Perhaps you could have a tea party here in SoCal and we could all come over before you head out to Sonora. I'll bring the crumpets!

Another fine one Bill.

The power line tower in the back is just sort of scratched in with a few purple lines, but I can almost feel the presence of high voltage coming from it. Have I had too much coffee? No. Those few scratchy lines are right where they should be.

I wish I lived closer so I could see this show. If I ever make time to start painting more regularly.... your art will be a big reason why.

Bill,

The lighting on the roof of the barn in the first one is gorgeous! Your sense of color and light is incredible. I've learned so much about color theory and color harmony just by looking at your paintings.

Good luck with the show. I wish I could be there!

Best,
Rich

KJ You don't like has car painting?

He does a little urban painting, but mostly western oriented. That's his bread and butter, I still admire artists for their ability, not just the subject matter.

Hey Rich, the light on the roof is mostly the underpating of and old half snaded painting showing thru. I was lucky that the texture of the old painting worked.

Looks like you're getting alot done, lookin' good. Good luck with your show.

I can appreciate the difficulty of putting a car into a painting. They almost never look right. Yet your "Carport" painting from a couple months ago had a nice stylized and painterly quality. It really hits. Strength in numbers... keep painting em'. I liked yours even better than Ray's.

You're really coming into your own. Warp speed ahead Captain! These are terrific. Particulary the compositions. The angles really turn these settings into dramatic scenes.

Damn you.

Love that Corvair!!!

Reminds me of the time I saw a pigsty outside of Wichita, which had a junked Sunbeam Tiger parked right in the middle of it for several years.

The sky in the that practice building, fresno, just smacked me hard in the chops. Nice.

Hey Glam,
Now that is a way to pretty up a pigsty. the question to ponder is did they drive it in there or build the pigsty around it?
