ParkHill Road

Oil on wood 16x24 image slighty trimmed.

This is up in Santa Margarita down an pretty funky back road. There was a labyrinth of old cars and trucks behind the hand made fence. I wrote a little story about another view that in in my SLO adventures about the gentlemen on the property next to this one informing me he was armed.

I was struck by the big dark hill and the sliver of light blasting on the fence. I also love boats in front yards. I think there is a subtle giant wave behind it in the form of the hill.

I've been meaning to play with that idea myself. There's something about seeing a boat out of water that's captivating. It's not in it's element, not being useful, not serving it's purpose. There's something psychological about that kind of imagery.

I like this one quite a bit. Has a very abandoned feel to it. Desolate. Definitely a mood to it.

There's an irony to having a boat sitting in the midst of waves of tall, dead grass that makes this one cool (especially when you consider water teeming with engorged life, dead grass being life deprived). I also like the green density of trees covering the hill.

I like this one; it has a "calm before the storm" feeling to it.

Not serving a purpose? I say thee Nay! Decoration, Shorter trip to the lake, and insperation.

Around the corner was Genuinely creepy, even I felt nervous going in there. Mentally smelled like leather face.

Great new posts. You must have a big scanner William. If there's too much paint for scanning can you just take digital photos, direct sun out of doors? Very nice car junkyard painting I hope my friend Ron M. who does the watercolour cars has crawled out from under the rug and visited your site for worship and inspiration.
