San Diego Caboose

More San Diego. Tony and I were walking along taking pictures of the shipbuilding areas were we were chased off be a series of security guards, most nice enough, but they had to do their "duty." One was nice enough to invite us to the ship christening in December then we could take pictures...
When we hit the train yard we got a guy finally "caught" us, but he turned of to be nice, and understood we were not a threat and let us walk along as long as we didn't walk on the tracks. I wanted to a one point, but decided not to violate my promise even though he probably wouldn't have seen us at that point. This little caboose was off by itself. I knew I had a subject.

Haha, I never got caught on the tracks--then again, mine weren't as busy. I like the soft lighting here, and the scene feels plucked right out of one of my high school memories.

I have admired your work for sometime, I love the way you paint, your use of neutrals, the way you capture the essence of the light.

Which is worse, security guards or bums?

These train paintings are all super gritty, it feels post-apocalyptic a bit. Very nice.

Nice caboose. I remember it had alot of empty space around it, you hit that solitary feel in your painting.

Jesse... I think I'd prefer a bum over a security guard. But in the end, it depends on just how angry they are.

Hey BG-- These were the train yards and there was no way we could have avoided him. Well thats not true, we could have slipped tru trains , but we weren't trying to hide. Maybe if was on my own, I sometimed play games like that, to act like a kid again.

Young Security guards why can only parrot the rules and can't think for themselves. I ignore bums.

Yeah, you could put on an elf costume and give them a hearty, high-pitched 'hahaa!' when they see you.
I suppose places with bigger populations just have better security in their industrial sectors, huh? Dammit anyway.

You daredevil you! This painting business sounds like a dangerous trade at times! Luckily it produces some fine paintings!

3 Kudos to you, my friend [ two of them simply for your display of moxie ]!

Uh-oh, you sound like my brother playing games with people. His favorite trick when parking lots are all crowded is to lead drivers on, pretending he owns a car in a spot up close. Then he cuts and runs (and he is mid-40's!!!!)
I love the light in this new painting of yours. : )

Les: Naa... I'll hide from cops or security or avoid them, but not a pranks on strangers are not my cuppa. I just think how that would make me feel.

awesome paintings. Everybody else has said it...but i will too...the way you have handled the light is really cool. If i were a hobo, i'd climb into this painting, set up camp, and never leave.

Well...maybe i'd leave to get more beans and whiskey...but I'd come right back.
