Abandoned

Oil 16x24 on wood

I recently went back to the neighborhood were I found the Dark Bus. it's was gone, but I found this abandoned little nothing car.
Sadly, I have so much contempt for the faceless style of this model that I didn't even notice what kind it was. Can you tell me?
No matter how many times I go though this neighborhood I get lost and end up going the wrong way on the freeway during rush-hour. I hope it's worth it.
Dark Bus sold right away and I miss it, so I wanted to see if I could repeat that success. This as a bit more color and the camera is further back maybe less intimate? Maybe to friendly color wise?

This looks GREAT, William, especially the way you handled the street light.

Beautiful Guillermo! A mysterious and a bit lonely feel... kind of like the feeling I have now after losing my connection in Mexico City. I´m in an internet cafe now in Lima Peru... waiting .. waiting to get to Bogota. Anyway I look forward to seeing your new entries while I´m in (?) ¡Cheers!

I am a fan of the wood grain showing though.

i really like the color and especially the treatment on the power lines - such a great use of lost edges and it adds to the mystery of the dark in this one - Dark Bus is awesome but "Abandoned" is just as great

Jessie. I got lucky on this one the Wood grain works with the perspective and atmosphere. Wish I could say I planned it.

I always try to look at going the wrong way, or taking a wrong turn, as a new chance for finding new subjects!

Great painting. I, too, love the treatment of the paint around the lights. I admire how you make the painting look like you painted it right there, even if it's from a photo.

thanks Joy. I painted it the same night I took the shot, I find that helps if you still have the palce clear in your mind when working from referance.

This is a beaut...but not the same as Dark bus in my opinion. Dark Bus was pure menace (in a good way). This has more mystery and promises something sinister. Great light as always.

thanks Tim,

I think the closer view and limited color made dark bus a little bit more heavy, but I still like this one ok.

Fabulous. Funny that w.k. moore mentions Mexico City, because that's exactly what this painting reminds me of.

I'll be dadgum if that's not a 72' Ford Pinto with a "bashed in" front-end, either that, or a Bobcat. The dead giveaway fastback action; actually I have no idea what I'm talking about. It seems you're are fast becoming the "Prince of the Nightscene". Do you care for the work of Charles Rollo Peters? All good your way in 2007.

Jon,

I had noticed his name as he is the grandfather of Tony Peters, but nver really looked at his work until now. You would think I would have, he likes nocterns with color too.
