Electric Trailerland

Admittedly this is a color experiment. I tried you go as electric with the colors as possible and yet not be day glow gross. I'm sure a de-saturated version would be better received by most, but I have a part of my brain that likes certain high key colors and has to push them once and awhile. 12x16 oil on Ray Mar linen panel
I'll go into a longer post on my trip soon.

Welcome back! Again spectacular color treatment and am I wrong or are you crossing over into the abstract with this? Whatever.. this is not typical plein air work and for this reason the work sits apart for me in the excellent column.

Welcome back!
I think the yellows on the end of the trailer bounce well off the sky, and I think the saturation actually works well here. My only experiences with saturated colors were accidental and turned out not very well at all.

By the way your post title sounds similar to that of a Butthole Surfers album.

Yes Bill,

for every tight painting, I go over to the loose side. I can't make up muy mind.

BG-- I have heard of the BHS, but don't know their music, this was a play on Jimi Hendrix.

Just checkin' in.
I've missed a lot.
If you were a drummer, you would be twirlin your sticks over your head and the crowd would be grabing their chest thinking that the Ecstacy they took was just kickin in.

Whoo.

Nice paintings.

Hey Steven,

I do a lot of embarassing air drumming with my brushes while painting. I usually have something heavy blasting and have gotten some paint in pretty weird places. Social Distortion has stayed on the 5 disk for awhile now. Who can't help but drum to Cold Feelings?
Come by more often.

William,

The colors are enticing and vibrant! I like the way you linked your shadow patterns. Beautiful composition as well.

Hey BG--

A million things, but right now I'm stuck on Johnny Thunders, The Black Keys, Beck, Sweet, Generation X and the Saints. Mostly a return to my punk/ pop days. the Black Keys, Kings of Leon and the White Strips are the main new bands I like, although Coldplay is good for stretching/ yoga. I was going nuts for T- Rex and Donavon a few months back, that has passed with out incident.

Such a quiet scene and yet it is vibrating with electricity. I think you succeeded... without a doubt.

So dang nice and alive! Boy oh boy, I do love how you handled the highlight areas -- those nice clean blue-whites and yellows.
