Exploring deeper into Long Beach we go we find it's not a beach town, as much as an oil field people live on. The oil pump is omnipresent. Sometimes referred to as Crickets, the Pumpers remind us of big birds pecking the ground in slow motion, making then have a kind of mechanical life. They are being scaled back as housing become more valuable than low yielding wells, but they are still everywhere, particularly clustered the industrial areas, but condos are going up there too. Mixing into a urban oil zone. oil 12x16

Love it, William! You handled the foreground beautifully, and the skewed horizon line adds a nice touch. I love high horizon line paintings and this one definitely qualifies for me.

You must get through a lot of white... what brand to you use?
I find the the type of white and the brand can mean big variations in texture, stiffness, oilyness etc. Was just curious.
There you go again - doing all sorts of great, unexpected things with paint! This one has a perfect mixture of rawness and detail. Just beautiful!
