Lots of great news, the big one is I’ve been invited to have a one-man show at the Bakersfield Museum of art in December. I’m taking it very seriously by focusing all the paintings on Bakersfield and the surrounding area. I’ve printed up a hundred little promo postcards of the jet above. I’m also happy to say I’ve been accepted into the Greenhouse Gallery’s contest this year and the California Art Clubs Gold Metal show. I’m 50 and I can still KICK!!! ;-)
The jet is another Mohave painting, a Convair 990 This one was a testbed aircraft for the Space Shuttle Landing gear. It now been retired as a display piece for the front of the airport. I think all airports should have a big ass jet at the entrance.
For all of you who don't like jets, here is a painting of a brick.

Okay, flat out - that painting rocks! Wow! Love to see more of this sort of thing. Pushing perspective but not necessarily in a Kirby fashion - but still progressive to some degree. Very cool.

The jet is heavier than the brick, but the brick doesn't fly as well. Curious.

You're 50 and still kick... serious ass. That's probably the best brick I've ever seen. Congrats on the big shows, definitely well-deserved!
Funny... at first I thought the brick was a modernistic seaside apartment building.
The jet looks fantastic, you really resolved it since last I saw, and it looked good then too. The light pink sky and powder-blue jet make for a nice color combo. Dramatic composition, this piece works at many levels.
Oh, and congrats on the Bakersfield Museum show. Coincidentally, Aron just got offered a show there too. You're in good company.

Gotta admit: at first I thought this is the cover of the new big Bill Wray art-book published by Chronicle Books (because of the format ;) )...unfortunately, it is not...nevertheless, this painting is on my list of "top-five-Wray-paintings" ;) ...awesome!

Just saw the mag article tonight, just wanted to congratulate you. The first painting hits you smack in the face, I really dig that they printed it on two pages. It was like a art punch in the face, bold and a great lead into the article. Sweet!

i picked up my copy of The Artists' magazine yesterday on the way home... i've had a rough couple of days at work, and haven't been checking out my favourite sites lately. so, i was thrilled and delighted to see your art featured in the magazine! i pointed it out to my sister, saying, "I *knew* I should have bought that daily painting when I wanted it. Now I'll never be able to afford his stuff!" really, seriously, i was glad to see you getting some well-deserved recognition. best of luck.
