Some times they get away from you.
I did this painting based on a blurry old old Black and White photo. I brought it to this stage ( this versaion is gone, it's now painted over and damaged) then decided I wasn't' happy with it. I reworked it and made it worse. Then I forgot and left it outside in the rain ruining the thing... You can't win them all.

Oh, the humanity!
Came home for lunch, saw this one and thought "wow" another cool painting from Bill.
I'm either going to have to take some classes to refine what I like, or you're going to have to stop being so hard on yourself.
There's a dumpster near my house if you want me to toss it for you. I'll even pay the shipping. ;)
Nice clunker! No, you definitely can't win them all....and if like me, you keep coming back again and again for more punishment. Because those successes when they do come are so sweet.
I like the vertical play of the buildings set against the horizontal nature of the the zeppelin. I wonder if you shifted it away from center if it would make the painting work better......or burn it.

Okay. Well I guess I don't know what "good" art is, cause I like it.
I guess I didn't make it clear, like airships this version dosen't exist anymore. But thanks everyone!
Take heart Bill, your "disasters" are still light-years better than my "best" paintings. Thanks for posting it, it was a nice reminder that you struggle too.
This one was almost there.
Unless the support is ruined by rain it looks to be worth a third try. The abstract quality is most interesting.. maybe putting it in the sun might realign the paint molecules in a favorable direction.
I got it; it's in the garbage now but glad you put up a picture;
What has also disappeared is your long goodbye, so I hope you will find a way to give your fans, supporters, students, occasional recipients of blunt advice and enjoyers of succinct comments the full rant.
