Sunland Ave Evening and a paint out

I love the corner of Sunland and San Fernando. So many paintings here so many angry crack whores flipping me and Arron off as we take pictures.

I'm loving your site. I found you doing a search for Open acrylics, trying to find someone using them who was doing nice work, and you really jumped out. Wow. Sweet.

I like this one. Love the blues and greens, the almost underwater look of it.

Oh, and I didn't notice at first, but the composition is pretty cool too. Hidden in plain sight is almost an abstract composed of rectangles (almost Mondrian-ish, though not in terms of color, of course.) I like the way the right side of the telephone pole is subtly lit up.

Used to photograph all over LA, people leave you alone as long as you show respect. Show fear, and you are a mark. Being from the LBC, I dont have the problem. Imagine me as a 20 year old, in good shape from basketnball, but head under a cloth while focusing my 4x5 on a tripod and reading the light, in an old beat up VW. From junkyards to industrial areas, but no hookers. They were all up on Sunset. Now in the back of LA Weekly as "escorts" and and massage therapists. Though seena few late at night in the CPT.

Hope to get to your show next weekend. Gonna hit the Getty for the Irving Penn photos the guy at LACMA on Fire blog hates so much. Mom went to school with him.

And the Truth will out, keep on hitting em at CultureMonster. Time for the "Silent Competency" to speak out. Some one has to give a damn. As the wife says, Stop me when I'm wrong!

William, you do big sack water down of a dry well with your paintbrushes.
Every picture is an intonation and a different approach.
It is the most important thing.
Not to bore the people.
My congratulations.
Regards.

Like the way you divided the frame into rectangular compartments. Would like to see the cubist treatment of this. Working magic with unfriendly greens to set a mood for a very urban story.

Intriguing painting. Soothing interpretation of a charged environment, perhaps.
Found your blog via Lesly Finn, who is mending well, btw.
Are you familiar with the work of Zoe Strauss? Your blog subtitle reminds me of her photography and the I-90 Project.

William!

I love this!

Green is most favorite color so I love the verdant tint to this painting.

Really nice job capturing the effects of the streetlight on the sidewalk.

A very moody, dark, somber, and beautiful piece!
